Compare total pay, not base salary

Large pharma employers add a variable bonus, larger at senior levels, and often pay pension contributions above the legal minimum. Two offers with the same base salary can differ by thousands of francs a year once bonus and pension are counted. Ask for both in writing.

From gross to net: canton matters

The same gross salary does not give the same net pay everywhere. Social insurance takes roughly 10% of gross pay at age 35, then income tax depends on your canton and commune of residence. Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Aargau and Zurich tax differently, so compare offers on net pay for the place you will actually live.
